SYMANTEC SECURITY SOFTWARE BUNDLED WITH INTEL DESKTOP MOTHERBOARDS
CUPERTINO, Calif. - February 19, 2004 - Symantec Corp. (Nasdaq: SYMC), the world leader in Internet security, today announced that it will help safeguard users of Intel desktop motherboards worldwide by providing Internet security checking and access to security protection through the new Intel Desktop Utilities solution. Users will be given the option to scan their computers for potential security risks from viruses, hackers and privacy threats and will be able to download Symantec’s Norton Internet Security to help protect against those online threats.
Intel Desktop Utilities will allow users to monitor and control many system variables using an intuitive, tabbed interface. One of the tabs in the new Intel Desktop Utilities will be marked “Security.” When users select that tab, they will have the opportunity to purchase Norton Internet Security via download or they can click on a link to go to an Intel co-branded version of Symantec Security Check to review the security of their PC. The Intel Desktop Utilities feature will be included with all Intel-branded motherboards shipped worldwide beginning in mid-2004.
