Belkin moves into the small-to-medium business market

Building on success within the retail market, Belkin is set to give competitors a run for their money!

(Gosford, NSW) 29 March 2004 - Belkin Ltd (, a leading provider of connectivity solutions and computer peripherals, is expanding its channel to include sales to the enterprise sector (small-to-medium business) with the introduction of new products and a new Advanced Hardware Replacement program. Belkin is building on its enormous success in the retail space to meet the increasing demand for price-competitive wireless and server management technologies to this market.

“Our success in the retail market has resulted from our ability to make the purchase, installation and maintenance of computer peripherals easy. We intend to provide this same ‘no nonsense’ approach to small-to-medium business customers, through our partner, Ingram Micro,” explains Mike Bell, Managing Director - Asia Pacific, Belkin Ltd.

”Belkin is a leader in wireless technology and KVM switches via the retail channel. Belkin’s products consistently outperform the nearest competition in terms of retail sell-through and we hold the number 2 position worldwide for KVM switches,” says Mike. “Many businesses, particularly those in the small-to-medium markets, are attracted by the prospect of a one-stop-shop for their product procurement needs - one vendor, one warranty base, one support centre - offering a valuable ease of purchase, maintenance and price advantage,” continues Mr Bell. “With this expansion into the SME sector we’ll be able to offer that service.”

Steve Rust, Managing Director Ingram Micro Australia says, “We welcome Belkin’s focus on the small-to-medium business market. Ingram Micro’s business with Belkin has represented a three-fold increase in our business and we anticipate this doubling in the next 12 months.”

Expanded product line

Belkin products that have been developed to cater to the specific needs of small-to-medium businesses in Australia include, the new enterprise range of KVM switches, wireless print servers, routers and networking solutions and enterprise-rated UPS’.

Key features of the new KVM are the ability to centrally manage servers from any location, a 3-year guarantee, lifetime of firmware upgrades and local technical support.

“KVM solutions in particular are becoming purchasing priorities for the market as they not only minimise electricity costs and save rack space, but they can also control any PC or server remotely, centrally or locally,” says Mike. “This is where our strengths have been with SOHO customers and now a new product roadmap for the coming year will see those strengths extended to address the needs of SMEs.” Excellence in customer service

Belkin’s name already stands for hassle free returns in the retail market and their winning formula also endures for Belkin’s SME customers. Advanced Hardware Replacement, Belkin’s corporate returns policy, offers a world-class 3 year advanced replacement warranty, technical service and support service that includes next business day hardware replacement for Belkin’s enterprise products such as KVM switches, higher end UPS’s and higher end networking products.

Additionally, the streamlined returns process has been designed to make the reseller experience and end user purchasing experience easy and convenient. The customer simply calls a 1 800 number - Belkin sends a replacement product and arranges for the faulty unit to be collected. Dealers can enjoy peace of mind that their resources won’t be called upon to support Belkin products, and there is no need for the customer to purchase and manage warranty contracts or related renewals.

“Belkin has made a major investment in the Australian market with a world class distribution centre, technical support staff and related systems. We handle all returns ourselves without relying on third parties,” says Mike. “Our strong presence in Australia allows us to deliver this fast and seamless service to our customers.”
