Sophos EM Reporter Highlights Virus Hotspots Inside Companies
Graphical reports help senior managers identify network weaknesses and take the lead in promoting anti-virus best practice
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Sydney, 21 July 2003
Sophos, a world leader in anti-virus protection for businesses, today announced the immediate availability of EM Reporter, a new management tool for its Enterprise Manager suite. EM Reporter enables Sophos customers to generate management reports about virus alerts throughout their company.
EM Reporter processes and stores virus alerts generated by Sophos Anti-Virus, detailing every virus incident and giving a clear, tailored picture of the most vulnerable points on the network. By delivering instant graphical reports of viruses detected across Windows servers and workstations, there is no longer any need to spend time manually collating report logs.
"With Sophos's EM Reporter, the days of us manually collating virus reports are long gone," said David Hopkins, network systems support analyst at Provident Financial in the UK. "By being able to customise graphic-based reports as well as be alerted to any weakness in our network defences, Sophos EM Reporter is a welcome addition to the Sophos product suite."
Reports can be customised, giving staff full control of what information is included in the report, selecting from information such as the number of alerts by virus type, by location, by time period – hourly, daily, etc. – as well as full details of the virus itself.
"EM Reporter is just what security-savvy managers need to get on top of the virus threat," said Paul Ducklin, Sophos's Sydney-based Head of Technology, Asia Pacific. "EM Reporter is 'board friendly', letting senior managers take the lead in identifying and addressing virus hotspots in their company. We want to see anti-virus best practice promoted by the board and vigorously adopted by all users, instead of just being rules imposed arbitrarily by the techies in IT."
EM Reporter is part of the Enterprise Manager suite, which enables businesses to keep Sophos Anti-Virus for Windows updated automatically with the very latest anti-virus protection. For more information visit: http://www.sophos.com.au/products/em/
