Verrency CEO and Founder David Link has been named as a finalist for the Outstanding FinTech Leader of the Year at the 2018 FINNIE Awards.

Verrency CEO and Founder David Link has been named as a finalist for the Outstanding FinTech Leader of the Year at the 2018 FINNIE Awards.

Verrency itself, an Australian global payments provider, has also been named as a finalist in the Excellence in Establishing Market Presence: Global category.

FinTech Australia, the leading national fintech industry association, and NSW Government’s Jobs for NSW have come together to host the annual FINNIE Awards, which seek to highlight the world-class achievements of Australia’s fintech pioneers and recognise leaders overcoming key industry challenges.

Bringing more than 25 years of experience in payments and banking innovation, Link founded Verrency in 2016 in Melbourne, Australia with the goal of putting banks back at the centre of innovation. Under Link’s leadership, Verrency has grown internationally with an office opening in Silicon Valley earlier this year and further expansions planned into the UK and Singapore to tap the global banking market.

Link said: “I’m honoured to be recognised by FinTech Australia as a finalist for the Outstanding FinTech Leader of the Year at this year’s FINNIE Awards. With innovation at the core of what we do, I’m proud to have gathered and led a team of best-in-class talents in the payments space to take Verrency into the global stage. And our Excellence in Establishing Market Presence: Global nomination is a testament to our relentless endeavours to take Australian innovation to the global stage.”

The Outstanding FinTech Leader of the Year award recognises an individual who has demonstrated outstanding leadership in the transformation and growth of the Australian fintech sector, either through defining new standards, launching a key technology initiative, or driving a regulatory-related change that benefits the industry and delivers benefits to investors, businesses and/or consumers.

The Excellence in Establishing Market Presence: Global award recognises the fintech company that has most successfully proliferated its presence and identity globally through the creation of a strong brand or IP strategy. For example, this could include the use of a trade mark, digital or physical presence to expand their customer base in relation to count and location.

The winners of the 2018 FINNIE Awards will be announced at a gala ceremony in Sydney on 13 June.

About Verrency: Verrency provides world-leading enterprise-grade payments services for card issuers, merchant issuers, processors, and other digital financial services institutions. Verrency is a scheme-agnostic, white-label, "payments-innovation-as-a-service" open-API platform that helps card issuers acquire new customers and increase their share-of-wallet of existing customers while also significantly increasing security, control, and IoT connectibility. Verrency works behind-the-scenes - enabling everything from 2nd generation payments controls to aggregation to loyalty/ rewards spend to digital currency spend - quickly and easily with no change to existing payments rails, connections, or point-of-sale terminals. Verrency also enables rapid connection to 3rd party fintech services with little to no integration.
