Nectec Picks Newbridge To Supply National Network

Newbridge Networks Inc. has announced that Thailand's National Electronics and Computer Technology Center (Nectec) has chosen the Newbridge multi-service broadband platform for a new national voice and data network.

Thai Courts Find Atec Guilty of Piracy Again

The Criminal Court recently fined local computer distributor Atec Computer 400,000 baht (US$10,530) , finding the company guilty for a second time of illegal hard-disk loading of unlicensed Microsoft Corp. software. A company director received an additional sentence of a one-year suspended jail sentence and a fine of 200,000 baht.

Online Phillip For Local Stock Market

Phillip Securities, a subsidiary of Singapore-based Phillip Securities, recently became the first Thai brokerage to process a successful online trade, following approval by the Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET). Its first successful transaction was completed on Dec. 29, 1999.

Nation Group Forms Internet Subsidiary

The Nation Group publishing organization has formed a new subsidiary with 100 million baht (US$2.68 million) in registered capital to invest in the Internet and related activities, group chairman Thanachai Theerapatvong has announced.
