Alcatel expects to have completed its $11.5 billion acquisition of Newbridge Networks by the end of second quarter, pending shareholder approval and an Alcatel board meeting on March 16, according to local officials.
Ron Spithill, Asia-Pacific president of Alcatel, is currently holed up at the company's regional headquarters in Shanghai with his senior executives, nutting out how the acquisition will be executed locally. He was unavailable to comment immediately, but a spokesperson told Computerworld Today the integration of Alcatel and Newbridge "won't take very long", as the two companies have been in acquisition talks for some time.
