Clarent Expands, Restructures in Europe

LONDON (03/20/2000) - Clarent Corp. has restructured and expanded its European presence, adding a regional office in Italy, the company announced today.
Along with opening a regional office in Milan, the U.S.-based IP (Internet Protocol) telephony company has also created the position of regional sales manager for the southern Mediterranean area, to be based in Greece, Clarent said in a statement.
Furthermore, Clarent is planning to relocate its U.K.-based European headquarters from St. Albans to Luton in the third quarter of this year, the company said.
Last year, Clarent focused on expanding into the Internet communication market in Asia. It is estimated that the Internet communication market worldwide will be worth US$91 billion by 2006, with Asia alone making up a $19 billion portion.
