The ACT government has appointed its first chief digital officer, Jon Cumming, to drive its digital agenda.
Cumming is currently the CIO of the Department of Corrections in New Zealand. He will help the ACT government strengthen its digital economy, roll out a free Wi-Fi network, establish digital spaces and promote digital skills through government/ community partnerships.
“My role as CDO is to facilitate the community’s digital knowledge, take them on a journey and change mindsets about the infinite possibilities and experiences that a connected city and world offers,” said Cumming in a statement.
“As the ACT CDO I am also looking forward to the opportunities to collaborate with the newly appointed Federal Digital Transformation Office CEO and CDOs across other Australian jurisdictions.”
Cumming begins in the role on 17 August.
