NEC Australia to hire 110 staff in Wollongong

NEC Australia is set to hire 110 staff to man its corporate office at the University of Wollongong’s (UOW) innovation campus.
According to the vendor, it will spend $25 million on fitting out an existing building at the campus and hire 110 staff to boost its service capabilities in regional NSW.
In addition, NEC Australia and UOW have signed a strategic partnership. As part of this, it will establish a student graduate program that is designed to build ICT careers in the region.
“By moving into UOW’s innovation campus, NEC will have the opportunity to recruit ICT graduates and collaborate with researchers. At the same time, current and future [UOW] students have exciting career prospects in Wollongong,” said UOW corporate relations director Craig Peden.
According to UOW, it has one of the largest ICT institutes in Australia with approximately 2,500 students enrolled in 2013.
“This is one of our largest investments in NSW and gives us the space to add significant numbers of new permanent jobs in regional NSW,” said NEC NSW state manager, Peter Boyd, in a statement.
“We’ve already created hundreds of new jobs to support our continued growth in South Australia and the Northern Territory and with the addition of Wollongong, NSW is now on the same trajectory in terms of new jobs and investments.”

In October 2014, the vendor announced that it had won a $69.8 million whole-of-government [[artnid:556389|network management contract with the South Australian government.
The three-year contract with NEC Australia includes maintenance and management of network devices. The contract, which begins in Q3, includes options for two additional three-year periods.
