Top Layer offers stand-alone products

Top Layer Networks is now offering components of its AppSwitch/AppSafe products as stand-alone products.
The company's AppSwitch/AppSafe products currently address a multitude of network issues, from load balancing through to attack mitigation. However, according to Alex Turkington, vice president of Asia Pacific at Top Layer, a demand for single point products has prompted the expansion into stand-alone offerings.
"Today, more than ever, companies are constantly evaluating their security infrastructure for points of vulnerability and inefficiency," he said. "We invented IDS balancing as an application, and have incorporated attack mitigation technology that can detect and protect enterprise networks from malicious DDoS attacks."
The first product to be released in the new array is the IDS Balancer, which distributes workload amongst multiple intrusion detection systems. In addition, the product allows aggregate ID viewing of networks and provides simultaneous flow mirroring to multiple groups of IDS sensors, protocol analysers, sniffers and RMON probes. The IDS Balancer is available now with pricing ranging from $23,995 to $39,995.
Top Layer will also introduce its Attack Mitigator product in January, which is designed to counter DoS attacks. Perched between the router and firewall, the Attack Mitigator comes preconfigured to recognise and block the most known attack mechanisms, as well as being adaptable to new DoS attack methods, officials said. The Attack Mitigator has a starting price of $17,995.
