Google speeds up +1 button rendering

Google has improved its +1 button to make it load and perform faster on Web pages that feature it.
The +1 button, which lets website visitors indicate they liked an article, photo or another type of content, and share it with their social media contacts, will get displayed up to three times faster than before, Google said in a blog post.
Google itself is rolling out the enhancements that trigger the faster rendering of the +1 button, and webmasters of third-party websites don't need to do anything on their end, the company said.
This improvement does require external webmasters to download an upgraded snippet using the +1 button's configuration tool.
The +1 button's performance enhancements are part of Google's overall effort to make its applications and online services as fast as possible, both on its own sites and on partner sites.
Google launched the +1 button for its sites in March, and then made it available for third-party publishers in June. The +1 button is very similar to Facebook's ubiquitous "Like" button. It is part of Google's recent push to recover lost ground in social networking and social media, which also includes the Google+ social networking site.
