Novell on Monday announced the availability of NetWare 5 NFS (Network File System) Services, as well as the opening of beta testing for Novell Directory Services (NDS) version 8.
NetWare 5 NFS Services is designed to provide smooth connectivity between NetWare 5 servers and Unix-based workstations and servers, Novell said. The latest version includes enhanced security and administration from a single point; allows users with WebNFS-enabled browsers to access files on the NetWare 5 server over the Internet or intranet; and supports Novell Storage Services (NSS) volumes.
NetWare 5 NFS Services is available immediately in the US and Europe for $US2995 per server licence. Customers already using a previous version of NetWare NFS can upgrade for $1440 per server licence, Novell said.
Meanwhile, a licence to use the NDS v.8 beta is available now free of charge. Existing NetWare 5 customers may download NDS v.8 from Novell's Web site at http://support.novell.com/beta/public/.
Novell also announced updates to its PartnerNet program for resellers. Called PartnerNet99, the revised program aims to give resellers improved sales and technical education along with tools to drive adoption of NetWare 5 and NDS software, company officials said.
