NBN Co inks $23M in software support deals

IBM, Oracle, Accenture score support contracts

The National Broadband Network Company, NBN Co, has signed up three software support contracts worth $23 million.

Database giant Oracle, IBM, and services firm Accenture scored three-year deals to provide critical software support for its core business.

IBM will acquire servers, storage and software for its part in infrastructure hosting and Accenture will provide implementation and ongoing support services.

The systems will support the NBN Co’s massive engineering efforts, including project and asset management, service and infrastructure procurement, and accounting.

NBN Co corporate services head, Kevin Brown, said the vendors will support systems and processes critical to the NBN Co.

“We are putting the best systems in place to ensure we can be accountable for every dollar we spend and provide the right foundation for a rapidly growing national company,” Brown said in a statement.

The NBN Co issued the Request for Proposal on the 22 December 2009.
