Siltek notches up 100-day mark

The team at Siltek Asia Pacific, the local arm of South African-based distribution giant Siltek, have celebrated 100 days as a new group under the Siltek umbrella.

Agate Technology, Prion Technology, CIE Pacific, and Siltek Communications recently moved to new, larger, premises in North Ryde and have consolidated their back-office functions, a move designed to increase the group's buying power.

"Our back office gives us economics of scale, reducing our transaction costs, whilst the front offices remain focused on selling and servicing our customers," said Siltek Asia Pacific managing director Hugh Evans.

Siltek's Geoff Milton-White says that the grouping has made each of the companies stronger in their specific field. "As a team, we have the best of brands and as individual companies we have the expertise in our chosen market sectors."

Reseller Marcus Heron at Corporate Express says that the creation of SAP as a one-stop shop for IT services and products "is something the reseller community in Australia has been really crying out for". As an organisation benefiting greatly from the consolidation of SAP's back-office infrastructure, Heron believes this recent investment will offer a consistent superior level of national distribution capabilities across a wide range of brands.

Michael Bosnar of Prion Technology agrees, saying that under SAP a strong focus has been placed on people, IT systems, quality assurance, buildings and resources.

Siltek Asia Pacific launched onto the local market last November with ambitions to achieve $350 million in revenues this year and hit the $500 million mark in the next three years.
