FRAMINGHAM (04/19/2000) - Exodus on Monday announced that it is teaming up with Microsoft Corp. in a Web-hosting play aimed at e-commerce companies.
The joint initiative has Microsoft providing its Windows DNA 2000 platform and applications, including Windows NT 4.0 and Windows 2000. Meanwhile, Exodus will kick in professional services by developing and managing e-commerce companies' applications on the Microsoft platforms. Exodus also will provide infrastructure resources from its scattered data centers.
The two companies are billing this combination of Microsoft platforms and Exodus' services and networking infrastructure as a Rapid Deployment Initiative (RDI).
Specifically, Microsoft and Exodus executives claim RDI is a one-stop-shopping plan that e-commerce companies can use to deploy Web sites immediately.
RDI is just the first of several marketing collaborations the two companies will unveil over the next year.
