BOSTON (05/10/2000) - Novell Inc. has struck a deal with business-to-business developer NetFish to jointly develop products that help trading partners work together and exchange data using XML.
Together the companies will build software that manages the supply chain, logistics coordination and customer relationship management.
NetFish' already has a family of XDI transaction, messaging and process integration tools for business-to-business applications. The Netfish XDI system makes it easy for separate business entities to consolidate their enterprise resource planning systems and automate workflow processes transparently and securely over the Internet.
Novell has iChain, an extranet access management system built around secure directory-enabled technologies. IChain allows partners to share data, including authorization and access control information. The first product resulting from this partnership will be available this summer.
The Gartner Group estimates that the business-to-business e-commerce market will top $7 trillion by 2004. The partnership includes an unspecified Novell financial investment in NetFish.
