SAN FRANCISCO (05/12/2000) - Dell Computer Corp. is ready to launch a workstation Tuesday for online home stock investors who want the same tools as professional traders, a company spokesman said today.
The workstation will enable users to access sophisticated data analysis and market data services, and will have enhanced power to ensure the speed and connectivity necessary for high performance, real-time trading, David Graves, a Dell spokesman, said today in a phone interview.
"A lot of online investors need a toolset comparable with professionals on the trading floor," Graves said. "This will be a combination of a high-performance platform and a workstation platform."
Customers will have choice over the configuration of their system, Graves added. "They can have single processor or dual processors; single monitors or dual monitors," he said.
Graves said price and specifications and other details of the product will be available Tuesday.
The workstation will be based on Intel Corp. processors, he added.
