QLD govt site shut down by porn links

The Queensland Children's Commission has been forced to take its website offline temporarily after links to offensive websites were discovered late last week.

A ministerial report into the matter is underway to investigate how the links appeared on the site, a spokesperson from the Children's Commission said.

It is believed the links connected the Commission website to sites with information about drug use and pornography including a cartoon "The Crack Babies" and cocaine recipes. The cartoon depicts children in nappies talking of oral sex, prostitution and a brutal murder of a policeman by a child with a gun and a child with a knife.

According to the spokesperson from the Children's Commission, the site will resume operation once the report and internal investigation has been completed and issued to the Minister for Families, Youth and Community Care.

The matter was raised by opposition member Allan Grice in question time in Queensland Parliament on Thursday.

The Children's Commission website provides parents and young people with information on services provided by the Commission.

The Commission refused to comment further on the shut-down until the report is completed.
