Vodafone Australia has launched a business cap and mobile office service aimed squarely at drawing small businesses away from the fixed telephone line.
The Business Cap with Mobile Office service provides unlimited free mobile calls between staff within the same business user group within Vodafone's coverage areas.
Other features include free voicemail retrieval and extension dialling so mobiles can have the same extension as desk landlines. Vodafone hopes this will make the transition to becoming a mobile-only company more seamless. And up to six staff members can hold free conference calls on their mobiles.
The new service delivers functionality to mobiles that is similar to services usually accessed through office PABX systems, according to the company.
Vodafone Australia's general manager of business markets, Edward Goff, said the mobile office extends the value and flexibility of business cap plans, encouraging more businesses to use their mobile phones whether they're in the office or on the move.
"Whether you're an on-site project team or a group of accountants or management consultants working from various client premises, staying in contact with colleagues is an increasingly important part of a business," Goff said. "Mobile office will encourage more people to reach for their mobile rather than the old desktop phone. It's the catalyst that will help business cut landlines out for good."
Goff said the days of changing phone numbers and being offline when you move office are gone because with mobile office there is "no communications disruption and minimal cost".
"Vodafone's mobile voice, mobile e-mail and mobile data products are specifically designed to meet the entrepreneurial needs of Australian businesses," Goff said.
Pricing starts at $199 a month for two to four people, up to $999 a month for a group of up to 25 people.
