SAN MATEO (05/26/2000) - Apple Computer Inc. has released AppleScript 1.4.3 for OS 9. The new version fixes an incompatibility that prevented the Standard Additions "mount volume" command -- which mounts non-AppleShare volumes, including Microsoft Corp.'s Windows NT and Apple's own OS X -- from working.

Microsoft: In Microsoft Exchange Server 5.5, you can disable Address Book view replication using the Period-Rep-Sync-Times attribute in the Address Book raw properties. However, Microsoft says Address Book view replication may still happen. Microsoft is testing a fix, which will be in a future service pack. If you need the fix right away, contact Microsoft Technical Support and ask for the following file: Dsamain.exe 5.5.2651.83.

Novell Inc. has released a patch for both its e-directory and the version of NDS Corporate Edition for the Linux platform. The patch cures the incompatibility between the NDS server and the Oblix server on NetWare. The patch is called N8SLINUX.01 and can be downloaded from Novell's support site at

Sun Microsystems Inc. -Netscape Communications Corp. Alliance: The iPlanet Application Server 6.0 Administration Tool has a problem with server instance names that are too long. According to iPlanet, you should use names with fewer than eight characters. If you don't, they may not display properly on the Cluster Panel.

Microsoft says there is a memory leak in the Microsoft Exchange Chat Server 5.5. If you use the Microsoft Management Console snap-in and the chat command, there may be a memory leak when the Chat Command object is created in Chat Server. There is no fix yet.

Novell has released a post-SP 8a update for NetWare 4.11 and NetWare 4.2. This fixes the bug that was causing users to get a broadcast message about Grace Connections. The file, which is called OS4PT1.EXE, can be downloaded from Novell's support site at
