LONDON (04/03/2000) - Dutch telecommunications company Koninklijke KPN NV (KPN) will begin operating an international wholesale long-distance network over IP (Internet Protocol) next month, the company announced today.
U.S.-based Clarent Corp. has been chosen by KPN to supply IP telephony equipment for the network, according to a statement by the companies.
KPN will transport international calls from the Netherlands to other destinations, and has already formed a minutes exchange program with other operators using Clarent equipment in order to exchange wholesale IP telephony traffic with other regions.
Last month, Clarent restructured its European operations as well as opening a regional office in Italy.
