Mitsubishi Hits SanDisk Japan with Patent Lawsuit

TOKYO (04/03/2000) - Mitsubishi Electric Corp. has filed a lawsuit in the Tokyo District Court against SanDisk Ltd. (Japan), a local unit of Sandisk Corp., alleging patent infringement, both parties confirmed today.

The complaint alleges SanDisk is infringing on three Mitsubishi Electric patents and seeks a preliminary injunction to bar the sale of SanDisk's CompactFlash and flash ATA cards in Japan.

The three patents are related primarily to the mechanical construction of memory cards built with a separate connector, Sandisk said in a statement.

Spokespersons for both companies declined to comment on the lawsuit.
