IBM Ships ViaVoice Pro Elite

LONDON (04/04/2000) - IBM Corp. released its ViaVoice Pro Elite continuous speech recognition software today, the company said in a statement.

ViaVoice Pro Elite, the company claims, is the first speech recognition software available which doesn't require the user to wear a headset microphone.

The software uses a far-field microphone from Andreas Electronics Corp., which minimizes background noise, making it particularly suited for voice recognition software, the company said in a statement.

ViaVoice Pro Elite is optimized for Advanced Micro Devices Inc. Athlon and Intel Corp. Pentium III processors, although the software will run on a Pentium 166MHz chip with 48M bytes of RAM under Windows 95, the company said.

ViaVoice Elite Pro is available from CompUSA Inc. for US$249.
