LONDON (04/06/2000) - Compaq Computer Corp. and e-commerce company Commerce One Inc. have partnered to launch an online business-to-business service for Compaq customers, the company said in a statement yesterday.
Based on Commerce One's BuySite and MarketSite portal applications, the Commerce One MarketSite Global Trading Portal service enables e-commerce functions from purchasing to auctions. Compaq will also resell the BuySite Enterprise Edition for customers requiring an internal buying application.
Compaq will implement and support both services from basic setup and training to ERP (enterprise resource planning) implementation, the company said.
Customers can also now browse, order and receive pricing for custom setups of Compaq's commercial desktops, notebooks, servers and storage methods through a single site, with one interface and password. Supplier catalog content and auction services are also provided through the portal, allowing Compaq's customers to purchase products and services from hundreds of existing and future suppliers, the statement said.
