HONG KONG (04/11/2000) - Chinese PC maker Legend Holdings Ltd. yesterday announced an exclusive deal with entertainment portal operator Hollywood.com Inc. to provide Chinese-language content through Legend's FM365.com portal.
Legend will translate Hollywood.com's movie news, reviews, interviews, and other movie-related content into Chinese and also co-develop Chinese-language content for the greater China market, according to a Legend statement.
Legend will be the only company working with Hollywood.com to create and distribute the U.S.-based movie site's content in Chinese, according to Legend.
A link on FM365.com will take users directly to Hollywood.com's Chinese content, said Legend spokeswoman Jenny Lee in a telephone interview.
Buyers of Legend PCs, the dominant brand in China, get one-button access to the Internet, with FM365.com as their home page. Through a partnership announced last November with China Telecom Ltd., the users get a year's free Internet access with the incumbent carrier as Internet service provider, Lee said.
Legend held 27 percent of China's PC market in the fourth quarter of 1999, according to the company statement.
