LONDON (04/12/2000) - Irish airline Ryanair Holdings PLC will allow customers of Irish mobile phone company Eircell to find flight information and purchase flights from the airline over WAP (Wireless Applications Protocol) phones, Ryanair said in a statement today.
The service will be available through a WML (wireless markup language) version of Ryanair's existing Web site, which currently accounts for almost 30 percent of the company's bookings.
Users of the WAP service, which will be exclusively available to Eircell's one million customers in the Republic of Ireland, will be able to choose, confirm, and pay for their flights using the same format as the standard Web site, Ryanair said.
The service is expected to be running by the third quarter of this year.
