LONDON (04/12/2000) - Belgian telecommunications company Belgacom SA has teamed with Oracle Corp. to launch a Web-based business-to-business marketplace in Belgium.
Set to begin operating in the third quarter of this year, the Web site will link Belgian suppliers with purchasing companies, Belgacom and Oracle said in a statement today. The new marketplace will result in real-time transactions between buyers and suppliers, as well as better prices and faster delivery times, the companies said.
Belgacom will be the site's first customer, and talks with other companies have already begun, Belgacom and Oracle said.
The online marketplace, based on Oracle's Exchange e-business platform, is designed to serve as a single point of contact site for buyers and suppliers, making it easier for two companies to begin trading with each other from scratch.
The site will also feature buyer auctions, allowing business buyers to solicit and manage bids from multiple suppliers online, Belgacom and Oracle said.
