SAN FRANCISCO (04/18/2000) - Network switches vendor Top Layer Networks Inc. and Internet Security Systems Inc., a security management software provider, have announced a joint initiative to detect intrusions on high-speed networks.
Top Layer's AppSwitches, using its Flow Mirroring technology, which load balances network traffic flows, are being deployed with Internet Security Systems' RealSecure Network Engines to monitor the traffic, the companies said in a statement released yesterday.
Each new traffic flow is routed individually and tied to a RealSecure Network Engine, which can detect intrusions, the companies said. Up to 10 intrusion engines can be attached to a specific switch. The technology will be available for Gigabit traffic at the end of May.
Top Layer's AppSwitches, with Flow Mirror technology, is priced from US$12,999 and up. Internet Security Systems' RealSecure software is priced at $4,995 per network engine.
