ADIC Launches Storage Appliances

FRAMINGHAM (04/19/2000) - ADIC this week rolled out a family of network-attached storage (NAS) appliances for enterprise departments, workgroups and data centers.

The StorNext appliances range in capacity from 950G bytes to 24 terabytes, and they work on Windows NT and Windows 2000, Linux and Unix networks. The workgroup and data center NAS are rack-mounted.

Three StorNext models are available for workgroups, enterprise networks or data centers. The workgroup model has a storage capacity from 950G bytes to 1,900G bytes; the enterprise device has a capacity of almost 4 terabytes to 7.9 terabytes; and the data center system handles from 11.8 terabytes to over 23 terabytes. The appliances connect to the network with 10M bit/sec or 100M bit/sec Ethernet connections and support tape backup.

The ADIX StorNext appliances support HTTP, the Network File System used by Unix devices, and the Common Internet File System used by Microsoft Windows. They use a proprietary operating system and are managed with a browser-based utility.
