Oracle Promises Speedy Deployment of ERP Apps

SAN FRANCISCO (04/25/2000) - Oracle Corp. will soup up its applications business tomorrow with two new packages of software and services designed to help companies quickly implement financial management and human resources/payroll applications The two offerings are the latest additions to Oracle's FastForward family, and include preconfigured Oracle applications as well as consulting, education and support services. As the name suggests, the packages aim to get companies up and running with ERP (enterprise resource planning) applications rapidly.

Oracle FastForward Online Financials is based on several existing Oracle software modules including Oracle General Ledger, Oracle Payables, Oracle Assets and Oracle Tutor for Financials. The U.S. software company claims that using the new suite will enable businesses to set up a complete financial management system in as little as five days.

Oracle FastForward Human Resources/Payroll is also based on preconfigured Oracle software modules, and will allow a company to set up its human resources system in as little as 65 days, according to Oracle.

The new financials module will be also available in a hosted form from Oracle Business Online, the company's applications hosting unit, or as a software suite that can be implemented at a customer's site, Oracle said.

The products and services will be available tomorrow in the U.S. Pricing for FastForward Online Financials starts at US$140,000 for 10 named users, while pricing for FastForward Human Resources/Payroll begins at $335,000 for 500 employees, Oracle said. Information about overseas availability of the software suites wasn't immediately available.
