VA Linux Boosts European Operations

LONDON (04/25/2000) - One-stop Linux company VA Linux Systems Inc. is expanding into Europe, with headquarters in Switzerland and additional offices planned for the U.K., France, Germany and the Netherlands, the company announced today.

The California-based supplier of Linux and Open Source software has named William Cobert to head up the expansion under the title of managing director of European operations, VA Linux said in a statement.

Didier Guyomarc'h and Steven Naarding will serve as managing director of French operations and managing director of the European multicountry area, based in the Netherlands respectively, VA Linux said.

Earlier this month, in an effort to encourage smaller software developers to focus on creating applications for Linux and the Web, VA Linux released StartX SP2, an US$800 Intel-based desktop system that features a full range of multimedia capabilities.
