FRAMINGHAM (04/26/2000) - St. Louis-based Trans World Airlines Inc. today announced a deal with GetThere.com in Menlo Park, California, to revamp the air carrier's Web site.
Set for a summer relaunch, the new TWA home page will plug into GetThere's data center, allowing travelers who are buying airplane tickets to also book their hotels and rental cars without having to surf to another Web site.
Keith Bounds, vice president for distribution at TWA, said the airline wants to offer "an easy-to-use booking capability that allows travelers to book virtually every aspect of a trip" via the Internet.
The GetThere system is also used by United Air Lines Inc., Alitalia, Northwest Airlines Inc. and All Nippon Airways. Other users of the system include AmericanExpress.com and Trip.com.
Once launched, the new TWA site will also allow frequent flyers of that airline to redeem their miles online.
