Just one week after posting losses for the last half-year, spendthrift accountancy software company Solution 6 has finally set up a traditional internet shopfront.
According to Solution 6's internet commerce general manager, David Maire, the company will sell accountancy software and stationery via its Shop@eccountancy portal. Products and services offered through the portal would be specifically targeted to the needs and interests of accountants, he said.
Maire stressed accountancy software applications would be made available through the portal, but he said no applications would be hosted remotely.
This excursion into online retail represents a departure from the much-publicised ASP offerings the company has boasted.
Solution 6's dynamic spending spree, which began early last year, has included acquisitions of CMS/Data, PKF, CVSI Australia and Singapore, and, earlier this week, FishTech.
One week ago, Solution 6 officials attributed December 1999 half-year operating losses of $65.97 million to the cost of integrating acquired organisations, new internal infrastructure and systems, and sales losses as a result of Y2K.
