ACNielsen to Measure Internet Activity in LatAm

FORT LAUDERDALE, FLA. (03/06/2000) - ACNielsen Corp. is setting its sights on the nascent Internet market in Latin America by partnering with a Brazilian company to launch a service that will monitor and measure Internet activity in the region, the firm announced today.

ACNielsen's subsidiary ACNielsen has formed a joint venture with Brazilian company IBOPE Media Information to track, among other things, the number and duration of visits to Web sites, and to profile users according to age, occupation and gender.

The joint venture expects to have its first batch of data ready by the third quarter of this year.

There were 10.6 million Internet users in Latin America last year, according to New York-based market research company Jupiter Research Inc.
