CommSecure to ship Mac payment gateway

A News Ltd subsidiary has been appointed to provide the online payment systems for companies operating in Macintosh.

Two years after its induction into the US ecommerce market in 1998, Web security software development company CommSecure has announced it plans to market and distribute its ecommerce payment gateway, MacCommerce, in Australia.

According to CommSecure, Sydney-based Apple distributor Conexus is currently marketing the product to Apple's 600 resellers throughout Australia.

MacCommerce will be targeted at Mac-based small and medium businesses looking to expand their presence online. CommSecure also predicted the product would appeal to Mac-based web educational organisations and regional ISPs because of the product's user-friendly interface.

CommSecure is co-owned by News subsidiary Broadsystem Australia and Perth-based WSM.
