BOSTON (03/07/2000) - Sun Microsystems Inc. is acquiring Innosoft International Inc., which makes Internet standards-based messaging and directory products.
Financial terms were not disclosed in a statement today from Sun, which said the move is aimed at strengthening the product line of iPlanet E-Commerce Solutions operated through the alliance Sun has with America Online Inc.'s Netscape Communications Corp.
After the deal is final, all Innosoft employees, products and technologies will be merged into iPlanet, Sun said. The acquisition has yet to be approved by shareholders of Innosoft, based in West Covina, California.
Innosoft's DirectoryPortal, LDAP Proxy Server and Messaging Transfer Agent products all will become part of the iPlanet portfolio. The transfer agent already is used as a core component of iPlanet's messaging server.
