Software developer BMC has won a five-year $12 million contract to supply IT services giant EDS with systems management software.
While the deal is to outfit EDS's Australian operations, the agreement also allows the "possible" extension of the contract into New Zealand, according to a spokesperson from BMC.
EDS, which has worked with BMC "elsewhere in the world", has a master agreement with the software developer in the US, the spokesperson said.
Another spokesperson from BMC, who confirmed the deal, said EDS was rolling out software that much of the company already used around the world. The spokesperson said the deal would be implemented "fairly quickly", and expected it would be finished by the middle of this year.
Last week the National Australia Bank struck a global software agreement with BMC, with the intention of standardising the operating environments of the bank's mainframe systems on a global basis.
