Emerging application service provider Alta announced yesterday it has chosen to use Cisco to build additional capacity for its hosted application service offerings.
HP Professional Services division has scored the implementation work which will see Alta dump its existing networking gear, believed to be Nortel Networks, and build an end-to-end Cisco-based ATM infrastructure.
According to Alta's general manager of marketing, Lisa Robinson, the deal is worth millions of dollars. "It's a fitting out for our entire data centre," she said.
Once the network is deployed, Alta reports it will also become the first Australian ASP to obtain the "Cisco Powered ASP certification".
Alta offers enterprise customers a range of network services and hosted applications from a central site in Sydney's St Leonards.
