LONDON (03/29/2000) - BullSoft, the software division of French IT giant Bull SA, has added new features including Web single sign-on functionality to its AccessMaster security tools 5.2, the newest version of its security software program.
The company yesterday released Version 5.2 of its AccessMaster suite of security tools, used for controlling access by remote users to corporate networks.
"All the pieces (of the suite) are independent but interoperable, making it easy to add something like an external anti-virus program," said Michel Paulin, vice president of BullSoft, in an interview yesterday.
The software includes new features aimed at the end user, such as Web single sign-on (SSO) technology, allowing users to access multiple-enterprise applications with a single log-on and password, he said.
AccessMaster 5.2 is also designed to complement BullSoft's AccessMaster NetWall firewall management program, launched last week. "Using the two products combined, one European company now manages 80 firewalls from a single site," Paulin added.
The AccessMaster suite is aimed mainly at telecommunications companies, government agencies and the financial sector, according to Paulin. Customers currently using AccessMaster include France Telecom's ISP (Internet service provider) Wanadoo, auto giant Daimler Benz, Motorola Inc. and the Norwegian Police, he said.
Pricing for AccessMaster depends on the number of end users, according to a statement from the company. For example, a low-end Web SSO configuration for managing up to 3,000 users would cost US$140,000, while a mid-range configuration for up to 15,000 users would cost $442,000. There is no limit to the number of users, the company said in statement.
