PeopleSoft to Set Up B2B Exchanges for Users

FRAMINGHAM (03/29/2000) - PeopleSoft Inc. yesterday said it plans to get into the business of setting up Internet-based trading exchanges for users - but not with its own software.

Instead, the Pleasanton, California, business applications vendor will use Commerce One Inc.'s MarketSite exchange technology to build the online marketplaces.

PeopleSoft also plans to build a MarketSite-based exchange of its own for use by companies that don't want to get involved in creating and managing sites themselves. The full details of that exchange will be announced next month, PeopleSoft officials said.

The MarketSite deal expands an earlier agreement under which PeopleSoft resells online procurement software developed by Commerce One in Walnut Creek, California.
