FRAMINGHAM (03/30/2000) - Federal electronic-business specialist Applied Management Systems Inc. (AMSI) in Rockville, Maryland, yesterday became the latest purchase in Computer Associates International Inc.'s shopping spree for companies that have a foothold in the federal government market.
Financial terms of the deal for the privately held consultant were not disclosed, but all of AMSI's 100 services professionals will be joining CA, according to a CA spokesman.
Last month, Islandia, New York-based company announced it would pay US$4 billion for Sterling Software Inc., which holds substantial information technology implementation and services contracts with the federal government.
CA President and Chief Operating Officer Sanjay Kumar last month said that Sterling's services practice for the federal government -- an area which CA will actively seek to expand -- had been undervalued, he said.
AMSI's client list includes the Executive Office of the President; the Departments of Justice, Treasury, Commerce and Defense; and independent government agencies such as the Office of Personnel Management, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission and the Federal Trade Commission.
