LogicaCMG extends services contracts with two leading Australian E&U companies

Sydney, Australia, 14 October 2004 – Leading global solutions company LogicaCMG announced today it has re-signed multimillion dollar services contracts with two key Australian energy and utilities customers, Tasmanian energy distributor and retailer Aurora Energy and Eraring Energy, the NSW-based energy generator and trader.

Aurora Energy has been a LogicaCMG customer since 2000. Its new contract runs through until 2007, with the option for Aurora to extend further. The contract is for the provision of ‘end-to-end’ IT support, extending from help desk, desktop and network support, through midrange and including data centre management and applications management for business critical systems such as customer billing.

Aurora Energy chief executive officer, Peter Davis commented on the positive working relationship the company has had with LogicaCMG for the past four years.

“We have been continually impressed by how LogicaCMG works with us. Not only do they have a deep knowledge of our business and the energy market, but they also place real emphasis on maintaining a strong relationship with us. At all times, LogicaCMG has been open and transparent in its dealings with us, working closely to make sure that our needs are truly satisfied,” said Peter Davis.

Eraring Energy’s original contract with LogicaCMG has been in place from May 2002 and was due to conclude in April 2005. However, Eraring has recognised the benefits the partnership has brought to the organisation and has extended its contract for a further six years, through to April 2011. The scope of work is again for a full ‘end-to-end’ service including help desk, infrastructure facilities management, data centre hosting and applications management.

Gerry Grove-White, chief executive officer, Eraring Energy said, “LogicaCMG has really delivered on its promise to make managing our IT systems less painful. The positive relationship we have developed means that any problems or issues that do occur, are always addressed in a timely manner.”

The early extension of both contracts is extremely rare and indicates the strong working relationship between LogicaCMG and both Aurora and Eraring.

The contracts also provide for project and consultancy services and both companies placed strong emphasis on LogicaCMG’s local and global industry experience in the face of the move to national deregulation and the establishment of the National Energy Market.

“The Australian energy market is currently going through a period of great change driven by industry deregulation. With over 20 years local and international experience of working with energy and utilities companies, LogicaCMG has the industry knowledge to understand the issues faced by Aurora and Eraring, providing stability and predictability through these periods of significant change,” said Bill Richards, managing director, services, LogicaCMG.
