IBM Corp. plans to open in June a center in Coral Gables to provide clients from Latin America and South Florida with information and guidance about electronic commerce, the company announced today.
The IBM center will be located within the Conference Center of the Americas, which is now in construction at the Biltmore Hotel in Coral Gables, a city near Miami where IBM's Latin America headquarters are located. [See "IBM Changes Organization in Latin America," June 14, 1999.]The center will cater to IBM's clients in Latin America based in the region or in South Florida, where many multinationals have their Latin America headquarters.
Two universities -- the University of Miami and México's Instituto Tecnológico de Monterrey -- will collaborate with IBM on this venture by providing content to be used during the sessions held at the center.
The Conference Center of the Americas, where IBM's center will be housed, will have about 40,000 square feet of conference space, eight meeting rooms and two amphitheaters.
