Lexmark and Dataline provide fraud deterrent solutions

 • 13 October, 2004 09:12

Lexmark is offering fraud deterrent solutions through its partnership with Dataline, by distributing Magnetic Ink Character Recognition (MICR) technology on its printing platform.

MICR technology allows organisations to automatically recognise and sort financial documents, such as cheques, by reading small identification numbers carried on each document. The agreement will allow organisations to print these documents on demand using the Lexmark E330 as well as Lexmark’s T Series printers.

Lexmark and Dataline provide fraud deterrent solutions

SYDNEY, 13 October 2004 – Lexmark is offering resellers a range of fraud deterrent solutions for financial documents through a distribution agreement with Dataline.

Dataline, a supplier of cheque issuance systems, will distribute Source Technologies’ non-impact Magnetic Ink Character Recognition (MICR) printing products based on the Lexmark printing platform to Australian resellers.

MICR technology allows organisations to automatically recognise and sort financial documents, such as cheques, by reading small identification numbers carried on each document. The agreement will allow organisations to print these documents on demand using the Lexmark E330 as well as the company’s T Series printers.

Ken Swanson, Managing Director, Dataline said the agreement came at an opportune time for Australian resellers.

“Any large organisation which regularly issues cheques or similar documents can overcome the security concerns of storing large amounts of blank cheques using non-impact MICR technology,” Swanson said.

“By running DataLine’s MICR enablers across the Lexmark laser printer platform we have reduced the cost non-impact MICR technology and significantly extended the potential customer base outside of financial institutions.”

Resellers can work with Dataline to develop non-impact MICR technology for potential customers. Resellers can be involved in proposing and delivering the solution to customers. Dataline will also provide consultancy-style support to resellers to assist in customer sales engagement. Dataline is also providing training to authorised resellers.
