In a deal worth $2 million in software and services, law firm Clayton Utz will install Solution 6's CMS OPEN Practice Management System in its Australian offices.
CMS OPEN, the practice management product for CMS/Data Corporation whose products were acquired by Solution 6 in October last year, is distributed by Howarth Computer Systems (HCS) in Australia, New Zealand and Asia.
The ability to handle a GST, not only for Australian requirements but also overseas, was crucial to Clayton Utz's requirements, said Robert Spies, executive director of the law firm's Sydney office.
The deal -- the first practice management contract this year for Solution 6 -- is considered particularly significant given the slowing of sales the company has experienced over the last six months, said Solution 6's general manager, enterprises, Graham Mirabito.
"This lull has been a direct result of Y2K. Firms have held off their decision-making in regard to new practice management systems in order to concentrate on testing and readying their existing systems for the impact of Y2K. We are starting to see the pent-up demand starting to flow through again," Mirabito said.
"The contract is testament to the quality of CMS OPEN and demonstrates that in a short time we have reaped benefits from our acquisition of CMS/Data," he said.
