SAN FRANCISCO (06/02/2000) - Hewlett-Packard Co., Cisco Systems Inc. and Software.com Inc. will announce Monday that they have banded together to develop an offering for the burgeoning unified messaging market.
Details of the offering, which the companies are calling "a comprehensive joint solution for unified communications," were scant this afternoon, and a spokeswoman for HP declined to comment.
The partnership will likely make use of Software.com's messaging infrastructure software, which is used by carriers and other service providers to offer Internet-based messaging services to consumers and businesses.
The announcement is timed to coincide with the start of Supercomm 2000, a week-long communications and IT conference that kicks off in Atlanta, Georgia on Monday.
Executives from the three companies are scheduled to hold a teleconference at 11 a.m. EDT Monday to discuss the offering. Press and analysts can access the call-in by dialing 800-857-2772 from inside the U.S., or +1-415-228-4572 from overseas. The password is Supercomm.
