OMG to Evolve Standards

The Object Management Group (OMG) plans to meet in Burlingame, Calif. in mid-September to work on the evolution of standards such as CORBA and UML (Unified Modeling Language). As part of UML 2.0, OMG will focus on improvements in language infrastructure and language superstructure and on adding Object Constraint Language (OCL) and UML Diagram Interchange.

Another goal of UML 2.0 is to embrace technologies such as Java and Jini. OMG also will start the technical process for enabling CORBA and SOAP (Simple Object Access Protocol) to work together. OMG will review a proposed language mapping from CORBA to the PL1 language.
