Queensland-based integrator Sundata has taken the red ribbon, being the second company to become an IBM Certified for e-business Business Partner in the Australia/New Zealand region.
The new IBM partner category is designed to reflect competency in both the business issues associated with e-transactions as well as the appropriate technology.
Sundata director of sales and marketing Kon Kakanis said the certification would provide a basis for the company to improve its standing in the e-business market.
"The implementation of e-business solutions involves an understanding of a number of different layers - you need to know as much about the business basic activities and the whole process of re engineering business operations, as well as the applications integration and IT infrastructure side of things," Kakanis said.
IBM's certification program includes training and certification for Solution Advisors, whose focus is on the development of sound e-business plans and Solution Designers, who evaluate e-business technologies and integrate solutions.
The certification process also requires proficiency in specific software and programming languages including design and development for Lotus Notes, IBM Websphere, Visualage for Java and IBM AS/400.
Kakanis is excited about the opportunities the certification offers Sundata and discussed the possibility of the development and launch of a new e-business product range.
"We are planning to use the certification to develop packaged end-to-end style e-business solutions, so we will be looking for integration partners to implement the offering," Kakanis said.
