BOSTON (06/12/2000) - Ennovate Networks Inc. this week announced a multiservice edge switch for frame relay and IP service creation.
The Envoy 700 is designed for small points of presence or collocations with limited space. It supports up to 250 T-1s, at a sub-US$400 per T-1 price. The product is designed to address an IP services market that's expected to reach $70 billion by 2004 and a frame relay market that's estimated to grow to $14.1 billion by 2002, Ennovate says.
The Envoy 700 features a seven-slot chassis that houses channelized T-1/E-1, T-3, ATM T-3/E-3, OC-3, packet-over-SONET OC-3, Fast Ethernet and Gigabit Ethernet. Ennovate rolled out a new three-port channelized T-3 network interface card for the box this week as well.
The system offers IP routing, traffic management, native frame relay switching, and digital access and cross-connect system functionality, Ennovate says. All line modules are interchangeable with the 16-slot Envoy 1600, the higher end predecessor to the Envoy 700.
Available in the third quarter of 2000, a typically configured entry-level Envoy 700 will start from around $50,000. More information about Ennovate, in Boxborough, Massachusetts, is at www.ennovatenetworks.com.
