FRAMINGHAM (06/27/2000) - Online financial services firm ETrade Group Inc. today struck a deal with Brisbane, California-based Cahoots Inc. to offer instant messaging to ETrade's 2.6 million customers.
Under the agreement, Menlo Park, California-based ETrade will market and distribute Cahoots' instant-messaging program on its community pages, Cahoots said in a statement. The program will enable ETrade customers, members and visitors to communicate with each other and financial representatives, Cahoots said.
ETrade also gains the Cahoots for Sites service, which allows Web operators to host and manage public discussions on their sites. The financial service will host live events, including interactive voicecasts with financial experts.
ETrade is taking an equity stake in Cahoots, but the terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
